Brewery History and Background:
Our foundation was in 1913. Some farmers and enthusiastic
volunteers from the village formed a company with the
intention of brewing sake mostly for the local region,
and our intention is to continue to maintain that focus.
Origins of the name:
The name of our founder was Fukuda, and the name of
the brew master was Tomogoro and the brewers in the
brewery decided to name the sake with a combination
of the characters from their names: Fukunotomo to bind
the hearts of all in the brewery. |

Brewery History and Background:
Harugasumi is brewed in Rokugo-machi, and area known
for its good water,located in the southern part of the
prefecture. We were formed in 1874,and have long been
known for good, high quality sake with a soft feel and
finish. Our sake takes its qualities from our soft water
and our main choice of yeast strains, Number Nine. We
donate a percentage of our sales to the township to
help protect good water, and are firmly active in local
efforts as well.
Origins of the name:
The name was taken from a famous song called "Hagoromo,"
and means "spring mist." |

Brewery History and Background:
The company was founded in 1865 in Minami-naraoka village
by the Ito family. Originally the name of the company
was Yamato Brewery, and the sake was then called "Matsu
no Tomo." In 1913, the company moved to its present
location in Nangai village and became Ochiai Brewery,.
The name of the company and the name of the sake changed
to Dewatsuru Brewery in 1955.
Origins of the name:
The toji brew master brewing sake here at the beginning
of the Taisho era said "May this sake that I brew with
all my spirit be like a crane in its caliber and mellowness,"
and named the sake Dewatsuru, or "Crane of Dewa." |

Brewery History and Background:
The company was formed in 1913 as a sister company to
Dewatsuru. Since our foundation, amidst the bitter cold
and deep snow of the Akita winter, using excellent rice
from the prefecture's No1 granary region Senboku plain
we have always brewed sake with a gentleness and fine-grained
flavor. Our sake has won many awards in tasting competitions
over the years.
Origins of the name:
Kariho, or "cut rice stalks," comes from a Japanese
waka poem of the Emperor Tenchi that reads "When I went
to the hermitage in the rice paddy in autumn day, my
cuffs was wetted by dew on cut rice stalks. It brought
home to me the coming of late autumn." |

Brewery History and Background:
Founded in the early Taisho era early 1900's. Although
it is not clear how the company was at that time, but
when war broke out in 1941, due to rice shortages the
company temporarily ceased sake brewing and began to
make wine instead. After the war ended, we began brewing
sake again in 1948. In 1955, the company incorporated
and the organization became what it is today.
Origins of the name:
Taken from Kimi ga yo, the national anthem of Japan,
Yachiyo means "8000 generations," and is a wish for
the prosperity of the country. |

Brewery History and Background:
The brewery was founded sometime between 1688 and 1704,
and we are proud of our more than 300-year history.
The current president is the 18th generation, and each
one over the generations has taken the name Juemon.
Our founder discovered the water used in brewing our
sake, which runs down from the Oh-u mountain range,
and since that first generation we have been brewing
amidst optimal conditions of cold and snow using excellent
local rice. From long ago, Chiyomidori is well known
in Senboku and Kyowa region as local sake.
Origins of the name:
Our founder looked at the beautiful green mountains
of early summer and read a quick poem that read "They
young leaves of the mountains of the all directions
are a thousand generations of green," and this became
the name of the sake. "Chiyo" means a thousand generations. |

Brewery History and Background:
The company was founded in 1689 by the ancestor from
Ise that moved to what was then called Nagano village.
The sake we brewed was drunk by the local feudal clan,
and the sake was named Hideyoshi by the leader of the
clan, Satake. In order to improve the skill of the brewers,
the clan invited Tomoshichi Hoshino from the Kazusa
region. To improving the skill of the local brewers,
he came to our brewery to work hard to raise a head
brewer for brewers in this region.
Origins of the name:
Originally our sake was called "Hatsu Arashi." In the
3rd year of the Kaei era 1849, the leader of the Akita
Clan, Satake, gathered all the sake being brewed in
the fief and had a tasting competition. We defeated
the incumbent sake being drunk at that time by the clan,
Kiyomasa, and the name Hideyoshi was given in honor
of the famous unifier of the same name, as well as a
play on words meaning "excellent and good." |

Brewery History and Background:
We were founded in 1885 in Senhata Village. We ceased
brewing for a time during the war. In 1949 we moved
operations there for searching of good water and we
received the house of the first mayor of Rokugo Village
Mr.Hatakeyama, In 1992 the 3rd generation president
passed away without a successor, and at the request
of the company the current president, Mr. Koyama, took
over. We work very hard at thorough quality control,
since much of what, mainly Honjozo-shu, Junmai-shu and
Ginjo-shu, we send to Tokyo and other places is is Honjozo,Junmai-shu
and Ginjo-shu.
Origins of the name:
The name Okushimizu comes from a combination of the
mountain range from which our water comes, the Ohu mountain
range, and Shimizu, meaning clean water, from the expression
"the spring water village,モ referring to Rokugo Village. |

Brewery History and Background:
In 1950, in order to sell more Akita sake in Tokyo,
at the recommendation of a sake distributor called Nishuhan,
ten local brewing companies got together and formed
one brand together. Then, for quality became uniform,
in September of 1964, seven local breweries and Nishuhan
invested together and formed the bottling company Yaesu
Brewing Company in Omagari City.
Origins of the name:
As Nishuhan's offices are in the Yaesu region of Tokyo,
we named the sake Yaesu, but changed the last character
to one more auspicious. It was selected from among several
by the employees of Nishuhan. |
