Brewery History and Background:
The brewery is located on the left bank of the Koyoshi River, near Honjo port. The company was formed from ten smaller companies in the region during the war. All of these companies had been formed between the end of the Edo era or the beginning of the Meiji era 1868. We have been working hard on expanding distribution since 1955 or so. We have been doing especially well in Hokkaido, where our sake came to be known and loved thanks to the coal industry. In fact, most of our out-of-prefecture sales are in Hokkaido, where we have established strong sales routes.

Origins of the name:
The name means "Pride of Akita," and was given so that our sake will indeed become the pride of Akita.

Brewery History and Background:
We were founded by Yataro Saito in 1902, as a sake retailer here in our present location. The name of the company, "Saiya," is taken from the name of our founder.

Origins of the name:
Yuri is the name of a region in the south of Akita Prefecture, in the foothills on the north side of the mountain Chokaizan. Our brewery is in Honjo city, in this region. Masamune is a name given to good sake originally by a man named Yamamura, the discoverer of Miyamizu water in Nada back in the Edo era.
Here we introduce several things we would like you to pay attention to within our kura.
1,The trench: behind our kura runs a water trench through which flows water that has filtered down through the mountain Shinzan. This is semi-soft water, which is very good for sake brewing.
2.Keyaki trees: There is a large keyaki tree between us and the neighboring house. The branches extend out over the roof of our kura, and as this blocks the sun from the west, the temperature inside the kura remains stable.
Our founder built the kura here in such a way as to utilize nature. Water and trees have a profound effect on sake brewing.

Brewery History and Background:
We are Akita's oldest brewery, having been founded in 1487 in the middle of the Muromachi era. Originally, the company was a wholesaler of goods sent by ship, with sake brewing just a side business. But in the early Meiji period, sake brewing became the main business. We have since then been staunchly brewing sake in the old yamahai-shikomi method. Our current brewery dates from 1883.

Origins of the name:
The name is a combination of the name of the business when we were a wholesaler, Izumiya, and the name of the immediate region, Hirasawa, and was shortened from "Hirasawa Izumi no Sake." Also, there is the theory that a local painter sent our sake to Monk Ryokan of the Echigo region, calling it "jumping, good, white water," and the name and characters are a play on that expression

Brewery History and Background:
In our region, plenty of snow falls, and the natural environment is very clean, with lots of fresh, clean water. The temperature is perfect for making sake. And, quite a bit of good rice is grown here. These are all conditions that are necessary to brew good sake, and these same conditions reassure the consumers that drink our sake. We use superior brewing techniques handed down from long ago to make high quality sake. Our sake is soft and sweet; it is nice on the rocks, at room temperature, chilled, and also warmed to about 40C. You can enjoy in whatever way is your preference.
